Like the end of a bad movie, when the audience thinks the bad guy is dead, and everything is safe - Ric Williamson, the late chair of TxDOT, rises from the dead to force tollways down our throats. Well, not exactly, but close.
Mary Ann Williamson, Ric Williamson's the old lady, says Williamson's toll and pave everything policies should continue, and that we don't "have a choice", according to this new Statesman article:
What? We don't have a choice? Is that arrogant or what? Hell, I was under the impression this was a democracy, not a dictatorship. And, not a dictatorship run by an arrogant corpse.As for Williamson’s policies, Mary Ann Williamson said they should continue.
“Even if you don’t care for some of these things,” she said, “I don’t think you have a choice.”
Go fly a kite lady. We've had enough of your family, Gov. Perry, Sen. Watson and all the rest of the crooks rooting around in our pockets.

I think that a fitting tribute to our former Director Williamson now that he is among the departed is to toll every road going through or around Weatherford, Texas, his home town.
His widow can break the champagne bottle on a toll booth. Maybe his neighbors will raise a statue to him in gratitude for the tolling. It's only fitting that she and the people of Weatherford show us real Texan patriotism.
Hell, they should've tolled every car and double-tolled the hearse at every turn and at every intersection on the way to inter his sorry ass!

On a better note, News8Austin.com says "Pilot program for LED countdown lights slated for downtown." These should be mandatory at intersections with red light cameras. Motorists can see the countdown and know how to approach the intersection more efficiently and avoid running the red. If RedFlex is going to break the law and collect money at intersections with artificially shortened yellows, the citizens deserve a fighting chance to know when the light is going to change. The countdown may also help motorists fight false tickets if it shows up in the photo. Additionally because motorists drive more erratically around intersections with cameras, pedestrians need to know how fast to walk to avoid getting run over. Write Jennifer Kim and Mike Martinez and others who voted for red light cameras on the excuse of "safety" to install countdown signals at these intersections.
