U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady lead a group of nine Texas lawmakers on Friday, from both political parties, in urging the Texas Department of Transportation to remove the Interstate 69 project from the controversial Trans-Texas Corridor and return it to its original route which brings existing highways U.S. 59, U.S. 281 and U.S 77 up to interstate standards, as reported by KBTX news.

To these nine I offer my heartfelt thanks.
We need S.H. 71/290 brought up to "interstate standards". Austin needs an East/West Interstate!! And BTW, it should be a FREE expressway, not tolled.
Don't believe this - it's a ploy to move the DEIS to Tier 2 so that they can get Federal Approval. Once it goes to Tier Two we're screwed and they can go back to the alternative at any time they want in the future. DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After all the BS that Perry and his henchmen pulled in the past, I would take this news with a "grain of sand". What those people say and what they do is strictly coincidental. Looks good on the surface, but the surface isn't where we need to concentrate. Beware of the trolls lying in hiding. I am sure that there are some smoothing of rough edges to help the Sunset Report look better, but I would hope that the reporting period covers up to the date that the Sunset review began. The TTC35 hatchet has loomed over central Texans for a long time with no end in sight. I think it has gone underground.
These 9 "opportunist", as Sal put it, are trying to get elected again on an issue they now realize their constituents probably don't even want OR TTC is not running through their districts anyway I don't trust politicians so I didn't even bother to look where they are from.
I agree with 12:51 & 3:02 anonymous, don't believe ANYTHING that comes out of TxDOT because they have already developed a strategy plan to get everything rolling again once the sunset and next session are over. TxDOT does NOTHING without a hidden agenda. Why do you think Watson changed his mind to allow Mrs. Political Hack to become the head of the Commission?
TxDOT higher-ups are too politically and financially motivated to throw in the towel. They knew all along what they were pushing down our throats was against the law and their nose had gotten too bloody for their stomachs. Assuming Mr. Saenz last until January '09, he and the Commission are trying to kiss as much politico a@# as they can while they can.
Keep the pedal to the metal and don’t ever let up. The arrogant SOB’s think they have out foxed us.
