Hi Sal,

Happy New Year and thank you for your diligent work against Austin toll roads and the taxation without representation issues that surround the CTRMA. I would like to know more details regarding why PET PAC has chosen to endorse Donna Howard.

Specifics include what questions were asked of the candidates and their answers. I'd also like to know why Donna's answers were transparent while Ben Bentzin's (and any other candidate's) answers were dishonest (as implied in your message).

I will need to vote in the early election before this Saturday and I would appreciate your timely response. I did not find any additional information on your Web site and since you are asking me to vote for a candidate that you support, I think that more background information is required.

Thanks for the compliment!

When I called all the candidates, to get their candidate email addresses, so we could send them our important PET PAC Questionnaire, I ended up speaking with them more than I expected. We've learned from past endorsements that politicians are slippery, especially with Questionnaires so we have 3 rules. FYI: Active volunteers always vote and decide on who we endorse.

RULES:
A) THE CANDIDATE himself/herself MUST FILL OUT THIS QUESTIONNAIRE.
B) The entire Questionnaire must be sent back with all questions answered.
C) This complete Questionnaire (questions and answers) must be submitted via email by _____.

Howard: Filled out the Questionnaire herself (as the rules of the Questionnaire state), Answered all PET PAC Freeway Toll & Corridor questions positively. Agreed to file 2 (Two) bills. She was open and honest with nothing to hide with her answers on "paper" and with our conversation.

Benzin: Failed to fill out the Questionnaire himself as the rules stated. It came from someone else's email. Failed to answer the question (#13) of "who filled out this questionnaire". Agreed to file 0 (Zero) bills. Benzin at first said he didn't want to do the questioner, but wanted our endorsement anyway (that has never been asked of us - I told him we would not consider endorsing without it). After it was submitted back to PET PAC, whoever filled it out demanded that it not be seen by the public (That is also a first in 3 years of endorsing candidates with Questionnaires).
