The founder of TexasTollParty.com shines a light on the dark corners of special interest boondoggles: Double tax tolls and Trans Texas Corridor tax, toll & debt schemes.
Hi, Love the website. Has anyone read the dr-36 DMV form (Request for a Certified Abstract of an Operating Record) for getting someone's driving record without that persons permission?
Exception No. 11 states "For use in connection with the operation of a private toll transportation facility." Am I just being paranoid?
Most realistic studies showed raising the gas tax a few cents would cover the cost of expressways without tolls. Gas has gone up over $1 per gallon recently. Obviously a few cents gas tax would have been quite negligible. Also, roads without tolls cost about half as much to build, thus saving billions.
More on tolls. Toll roads have been promoted by libertarians for decades. So, how can I be against Austin's? I'd have no problem if the state plopped down expensive toll roads if cities and counties were free to build competing alternative routes. Cities and Counties drastically underfund major thoroughfares. As a result, we use our state highways like city thoroughfares. A high toll state highway would have citizens demaning funding by their local government for free thoroughfares made of roads that cost 1/10th the cost of Toll Road construction. However, our CTRMA Toll Plan has monopoly guarantees that competing roadways cannot be constructed.
