The founder of TexasTollParty.com shines a light on the dark corners of special interest boondoggles: Double tax tolls and Trans Texas Corridor tax, toll & debt schemes.
Man, who's money is NTTA gambling with in Dallas and who is backing that place for this play they are making. Best I can tell from what they have published they are pushing the envelope. I am no idiot and if a private outfit was paying over $2 billion and was bidding against others to win, you know there are margins and risks. I jsut wonder since NTTA is only gambling with my money what the heck.
It is kind of a gamble either way. TxDOT cuts deal with Cintra after competitive bid, Cintra gamble there money it will all work out, TxDOT gamble to some degree wit my money as if they undervalued the road and it does better than estiamtes by Cintra, Cintra gets extra cash from me. Of coarse if it goes wrong they hold the bag.
Meamwhile NTTA goes on a limb, if it fails, they come taking more of my money, but if it excels more money goes to NTTA supposedly for more roads, thoguh I have not noticed theyreally get in a hurry to develop new roads. They pay HNTB and others lots of money to basically run the place, hech the acting director is on a leave of absence from HNTB, NTTA is paying him $25K a month and he'll go right back to HNTB in a few months when they hire a new guy. I wonder how much HNTB gets if NTTA wins this deal.
Also, loved the articel on HCTRA, maybe they should pay more like NTTA then their director could just fund the party, of coarse I wouldn't bet NTTA is very clean either. Wish we could get someone up here looking at them much closer. You have managed to get a sharp eye pointed at TxDOT in Austin and NTTA has used that up here to try and cease power. I'm not sure that is a better option for us.

THE REAL KICKER IS - THEY ARE SHIFTING A FREEWAY (STATE HIGHWAY 121) INTO A TOLLWAY.
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT RIGHT OF WAY WE'VE PAID FOR - WHICH CREATES A MONOPOLY.
ON TOP OF THAT - THERE IS ALSO ABOUT $700 MILLION WORTH OF ROAD WE'VE ALREADY PAID FOR IN THE DEAL.
