NEW SEN. CARONA Bureaucratic BILL CREATES 24 MINI-TXDOTS

Sen. John Carona unveiled his bureaucratic transportation bill today in the Senate Transportation Committee. The Carona bill was created behind closed doors with Mike Krusee and other tollers. Sidestepping the main problem of the existence of the TTC and double tax freeway tolls - Carona promises more power to local government.

Senate Bill 1929 includes the limited moratorium on secret CDA deals as well as lot’s of new bureaucratic smoke and mirrors that alllow the toll scams to move forward.

Many Senators expressed concern this morning with how SB 1929 "creates 24 mini-TxDOT's" as 24 metropolitan planning organizations would get more power to control secret corporate welfare toll contracts (CDA's) and set toll rates. Carona's bureaucratic bill also creates more CPOs (corridor planning organizations to approve the route of the Trans-Texas Corridor segments) and RPOs (rural planning organizations to give rural low-population areas “representation”).

TxDOT is all powerful and is supported in its toll road efforts starting with the governor and filtering down to the legislature. The agency has all its guns out and is pressing in on all sides as did the Nazi Germans with their Panzer Movements. Currently the focus is on Central Texas, with an eye on the entire state.

Apparently, one of those "big guns" is Senator John Carona, Chair of the Committee on Transportation & Home Security. Sen. Carona today unveiled a Panzer Movement plan SB 1929, which places a 2-year moratorium placebo on the books, but opens-up the opportunity for many mini-TxDOT's throughout the state to provide local governments with more power and enable them to manipulate laws and tax dollars into tolling empires. Evidently the bill is a poor attempt to placate the ire of hardworking Texans who are rising up in anger to be counted as NOT wanting toll roads or additional taxes.

County Commissioners under SB 1929 will acquire additional unconstitutional [currently] powers, so that they may act as a Regional Mobility Authority, developing toll roads and/or super-highways as they see fit, at a cost of millions to local taxpayers.

Sec. 284.0031. ADDITIONAL POWERS. A county, acting through the commissioners court of the county, or a local government corporation, may exercise any power granted to a regional mobility authority under Chapter 370 to the extent that such a power does not conflict with the powers or duties provided under this chapter.

So where is the 2-year moratorium on toll roads if local government is provided the power to go ahead with them?

Confucius tells us to: "Beware of the man who blows hot and cold with one breath."

Too many Texas lawmakers have been "blowing hot and cold" at us for at least the past decade and it's time for the People of Texas to stand-up and take back their government before it's too late Stop the Panzer Movement!
